Criteria For Individuals
Quality
Whilst we aren't setting specific rules, we do expect a certain level of quality within your profile. Whilst images don't need to be professionally taken, they need to be a quality representation of what you can offer.
Reputation & Reliability
Our Directory is open to brand new business and established ones - you don't need a gazillion 5 star reviews to join. However, we will not allow scam companies or any business proven to be publicly unreliable and/or poor quality to sustain a listing on our site.
Proof Of Business
This can be anything from a website to a social media page - even if you're only just starting out, you'll need to supply some form of proof & ability to have a listing.
FAQ's For Individuals
"Do I need an up to date DBS to be considered?"
DBS certificates are not a legal requirement for entertainers in the UK, HOWEVER it is HIGHLY recommended.
More and more clients and venues are asking to see the DBS certificates of entertainers, so by not having one you may miss out on potential work.
As The Princess Directory isn't employing you, we do not have a right to request a copy of your DBS and therefore do not ask for one as part of the application process.

"Where did The Princess Directory come from?"
The Princess Directory was dreamt up by Grace back in 2014 when she launched Hire A Mermaid UK LTD. Initially The Princess Directory had planned to launch soon after, however Hire A Mermaid UK became such an overnight success that mermaids took all the focus and The Princess Directory was indefinitely postponed.
Fast forward to April 2025, and Hire A Mermaid UK made some big changes, becoming a Directory itself instead of the Agency it had always been (read about it here). The transition has been SO successful that it was clear the time had come to finally bring The Princess Directory to life!
"Should I get an Individual or Business Membership?"
Despite the name, "Individual" membership isn't only for those who work alone, it is open to absolutely anyone to sign up- it just has that name because the profiles were specifically designed with individuals and small businesses in mind. Only just getting started? Or manage a handful of princesses/entertainers and have less than 5k followers? Then the 'Individual' membership should be perfect for you.
However, if you run a franchise, manage entertainers in multiple areas/all over the UK, sell your own merchandise/art, hire out large props or have OVER 5k followers you might want to check out our business options in case the additional benefits appeal to you.
"What if I no longer want to be listed?"
That's no problem! You can cancel your membership any time, your profile will be removed once any remaining time on your membership has elapsed OR you can request removal of your profile ASAP but keep in mind you will not be refunded for any remaining time on your membership.
"I don't run a Princess Company, I fall into one of your other themes - is it still worth it for me?"
Good Question, and the answer is - Absolutely! No matter what theme of entertainment you offer, our curated profiles, proven track record and booking features make our Directory a valuable investment.
