It all started with a Mermaid...
Well, that's not exactly true...
Grace Stewart (AKA Grace Page) started out as a Princess Performer in her late teens and soon made waves when she trained as a freediver to become a performing mermaid. As one of the first few mermaids in the UK, Grace garnered a lot of media attention and before she knew it, mermaids were her ENTIRE life!
So...what happened to Princesses?
Princessing ended up taking a step back when Hire A Mermaid UK officially launched in 2014. Mermaiding was a very niche hobby/skillset back then that very few of the general population had heard of, and Hire A Mermaid was pretty ground breaking. The sudden surge in interest left little time for Princess projects...​

In April 2025, Hire A Mermaid transformed into a directory - giving clients the ability to choose their mermaid, have direct contact with the performer and enable the mermaids to have more direct control over their bookings and calendars.

The new site & system has been a great success, with mermaids raving about how it's "so much better" than standard 'agency' models. Clients also love getting to browse performers and reach out directly, it really streamlines the whole booking process!

With the Hire A Mermaid UK Directory going so well, Grace decided it was time to dust off the old plans for a Princess Directory - after all she now had proof of the sites success!
Not wanting anyone to miss out on what we humbly believe could be THE new way of booking children's entertainment - we didn't stop at Princesses, and modelled the new directory to also include Pirates, Fairies, Tribute Acts, Clowns, Superheroes, DJ's & MORE!
